As humans, we take a lot of what surrounds us for granted.
We don’t think that the resources we use can eventually disappear. Do you
imagine your life without water? Stop to realize that we consume everything at
accelerating rates and don’t give back anything to our planet.
All of this mass consumption causes a major problem and that
is climate change. Global Warming is real! Each day, greenhouse gases get
trapped in the atmosphere, causing for this layer to be thicker and warming the
Earth more. Transportation and the burning of fossil fuels cause the most
common sources of greenhouse gases. CO2 is being released faster than ever into
our atmosphere. This heat that is trapped has caused extreme temperatures and
2016 has been the hottest year ever measured.
Be aware that human behavior directly affects our global
systems. Our food supply, our water supply, and our global health are all very
vulnerable to climate change.
The food supply we depend on is severely affected by these
extreme temperatures, specifically by the droughts that are caused. Droughts
cause toxins to be accumulated in the crops and we are consuming those toxins
every time we eat. With higher temperatures, there is a higher demand for
water. Water scarcity is already an issue that affects more than 40% of the
world’s population. Imagine how much more it would affect with higher
temperatures. Lastly, the air we breathe is contaminated. Air pollution kills
6.5 million people every year. There will also be more tropical diseases prone
to being spread to places all over the world. Nothing good comes out of climate
change!
Knowing about climate change is key for our future. We need
to change our habits now! Start by buying quality products and waste less. Did
you know that in the US, 80 billion new pieces of clothing are bought each
year, and each person discards 87 pounds of clothing per year? What is the need
to buy so much clothing, and why don’t we find ways to reuse our clothing or
pass it on to another person who needs it. As citizens of our planet, we need
to always reduce, reuse, and recycle if we want Earth to survive.
This is an urgent matter that many people are not aware of.
Share your knowledge and spread the word to your friends and family. Your world
depends on it!
All our spheres are connected and depend on each other.
Another way to help our planet and reduce greenhouse gases is by using solar
panels and wind power.
Hi girls!
ReplyDeleteYour draw is very clear and represents all the different sphere. Your text have a very strong impact and is very well written. You described the problems very well and focus on change! Great post
I liked that they clearly explained the process and consequences of the greenhouse gases, to make it easier to understand how we are contributing to it. The blog post includes precise facts that make you realize how real and urgent this topic is. I like that it also provides ideas on how we can improve the major issues.
ReplyDeleteLea and Nabila- You are right that most of us don't about the fact that” the resources we use can eventually disappear" as you say. I also really dig all the facts you include, easy-to-read and terrific! I also LOVE these sentences: “Knowing about climate change is the key to our future" (that sentence offers hope!) and "Share your knowledge and spread the word" (that sentence tells your readers an action). And your sketch is terrific- great tie-into our readings, the earth you created is vibrant and uplifting! Well done!!!
